A fire system that has not been tested is, for practical purposes, a fire system that does not work — and both the Civil Defense Directorate and your insurer treat it that way. Maintenance is what converts an installed system into a defensible one.

Straight answers to what owners, facility managers and contractors ask us most.

How often should a fire alarm system be tested?

Manual call points and a rotating sample of detectors should be tested and logged regularly through the year, with a full inspection of every device and function at least annually. Battery and panel checks happen on the same schedule. SafeLine's maintenance contracts cover the full regime and keep the logbook current.

Do you maintain systems installed by another company?

Yes. We start with a condition survey to document what is actually installed and what state it is in — which frequently differs from the handover paperwork. From there we quote the remedial work, if any, and take the system onto a normal maintenance schedule.

What is included in an annual maintenance contract?

A defined visit schedule, all statutory testing for the systems covered, inspection reports after every visit, priority response times for faults, and the compliance documentation you need for Civil Defense and insurance. Consumables and replacement parts are quoted separately unless included in the agreed scope.

What happens if a system fails outside working hours?

Maintenance contracts include emergency callout with an agreed response time. Life-safety faults are prioritised, and we carry common spares so the majority of faults are resolved on the first visit.
